An exclusive Haute Couture retreat facing the Atlantic, designed for those who want to turn their own story into a one-of-a-kind garment. Over 5 days, in a private house in Zahara de los Atunes, you’ll develop — together with someone important to you — a contemporary dress made from a recovered Mantón de Manila shawl, combined with recycled leather.
This isn’t a group workshop. It’s a one-to-one guided creative process, with Valeria residing in the house for the entire retreat.
A contemporary dress built from a recovered Mantón de Manila shawl, combined with recycled leather.
During this Haute Couture Retreat in Zahara de los Atunes, each participant will build a contemporary piece by reclaiming the story of a Mantón de Manila shawl:
-Made-to-measure dress from a recovered Mantón de Manila shawl
- Recycled leather piping and trim as a structural frame and textural contrast
- Haute Couture interior structure for support and silhouette
The result: a piece that literally carries the shawl’s tradition stitched into its skin.
One of the defining elements of this retreat is the technique of integrating a recovered Mantón de Manila shawl with recycled leather, without losing the delicacy of the original embroidery.
Specifically, participants will learn to:
However, this isn’t textile mending.
On the contrary: it’s Haute Couture intervention that honors a material with history and transforms it into a new garment.
At Vikileria Couture Lab, every retreat is born from the place that hosts it. That’s why, rather than producing a generic garment, each participant develops a piece that could only have been born there, on that coastline, in that light.
Additionally, rather than producing multiple garments, participants develop a single contemporary dress that evolves through textile recovery techniques and hands-on artisanal intervention.
This process promotes:
In short, Zahara de los Atunes is the backdrop for this creative process. The light, the Atlantic, unhurried time, local food, and long walks are as much a part of the experience as the worktable itself.
Slow construction.
Intentional architecture.
Textile intervention as identity.
